World’s Largest Travel Site

Bainbridge Island – May 22, 2013 Kitsap Tours today announced that it has received a TripAdvisor® Certificate of Excellence award for the third year in a row. The accolade, which honors hospitality excellence, is given only to establishments that consistently achieve outstanding traveler reviews on TripAdvisor, and is extended to qualifying businesses worldwide. Only the top-performing 10 percent of businesses listed on TripAdvisor receive this prestigious award.

To qualify for a Certificate of Excellence, businesses must maintain an overall rating of four or higher, out of a possible five, as reviewed by travelers on TripAdvisor, and must have been listed on TripAdvisor for at least 12 months. Additional criteria include the volume of reviews received within the last 12 months.  Kitsap Tours has been the #1 attraction on Bainbridge Island (and surrounding area), with a 5 star rating, since it has been eligible for the award.

“Kitsap Tours is thrilled to receive a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence,” said Jean Boyle, Co-Owner of Kitsap Tours. “We strive to offer our customers a memorable experience, and this accolade is evidence that our hard work is translating into positive reviews on TripAdvisor.”

“TripAdvisor is delighted to celebrate the success of businesses around the globe, from Sydney to Chicago, Sao Paulo to Rome, which are consistently offering TripAdvisor travelers a great customer experience,” said Alison Copus, Vice President of Marketing for TripAdvisor for Business. “The Certificate of Excellence award provides top performing establishments around the world the recognition they deserve, based on feedback from those who matter most – their customers.”

About Kitsap Tours:

Kitsap Tours is the latest adventure of husband and wife team, Jim and Jean Boyle, who have lived on the Kitsap Peninsula for 17 years and in the Pacific Northwest for over 30. The two have left their previous white-collar careers behind and have boldly jumped into one overflowing with adventures.

Not to say they’re strangers to a little adventure, especially Jim who worked as a Secret Service agent for over 20 years, protecting Presidents, Heads of Country, and Heads of State. His passion for this project is driven by Jean, who, during her 8 years with the Kitsap Peninsula Visitor & Convention Bureau, always felt that tourists and local businesses could benefit from a touring company running on a daily basis-especially one offering ferry dock pick-ups.

Kitsap Tours is the only Seattle, Washington tour that starts with a ferry ride!

Our Beautiful Bus

Our vehicle is a new luxury touring van or mini-coach. It has a low-step entry with an electric service door, stand-up center aisle, reclining leather seats, sound system, public address system, TV/DVD player, and a separate rear compartment for any purchases you may make.

This vehicle was selected to allow us to get to many interesting Washington locations that are inaccessible for larger motor coaches or low-slung limousines. Its higher seating and large windows allow better viewing of the stunning scenery and views. We have room for up to 12 guests.

Our Philosophy

We believe in stepping lightly; small groups, low impact, enjoying but not changing the places we visit.

We respect the cultures and traditions of others and follow proper protocol where appropriate.

We support other local businesses and buy local when possible.

We believe in lifelong learning; we continue to learn more about our area and other interests. We enjoy sharing our knowledge with our guests as well as welcome questions which we will do our best to answer.

We make every effort to support and follow sustainable and responsible tourism principles.

We respect our environment and the wildlife. We maintain a respectful distance while watching or photographing wildlife. We stay on trails and do not pick wildflowers or trample over their habitats. Shore side, we refill all holes and leave large rocks in their original positions, avoid walking on sensitive habitat and handle tide pool creatures gently, briefly, and return them to their original places. We observe limits on the collection of edible species, and forgo the collection of others for souvenirs. Educate others about ethical wildlife observation. Jim and Jean are both certified Beach Naturalists.

Kitsap Tours was started because we love the area and enjoy sharing it. We want our guests to have the best time possible and we will do our best to make your tour special and memorable whether it is a regularly scheduled tour or a custom tour we have developed just for you.

  1. John Stewart says:

I caught an early ferry from Seattle so I could walk around Brainbridge before the tour started and walked the waterfront trail which was a very pleasant stroll through the backgrounds of the quaint little village. I would highly recommend doing that either before or after the tour. The tour was very enjoyable; lots of history about the island and the Kitsap Peninsula. We visited the Squamish Museum and learned how the locals are dealing with today’s environment. Jean Boyle, the tour guide, was a wealth of knowledge about the area and the inhabitants both past and present. We enjoyed a leisurely lunch on our own in Poulbos a beautiful Norwegian style village with many boutique type shops to visit. Our afternoon wound down with a walk around Port Orchard, a Company owned Lumber town from the late 1800s. A quaint village with beautifully restored New England style homes. Bottom line it was a day well spent and well worth the cost of the trip.
